SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Symphony will perform pirate and superhero-themed concerts in Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, on Oct. 25, 28 and 29 as part of their Halloween-themed concerts, according to a news release. On Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., the symphony will present “Spooktacular on the Seven Seas!” with music from “Hook,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Witches of Eastwick.” The concert will be led by associate conductor Rei Hotada.

According to the news release, KSL News Radio and Salt Lake Comic Con will sponsor a costume contest from 5:30-6:30 p.m. that night in the main lobby of Abravanel Hall. Prizes include tickets to Salt Lake Comic Con FanX, Living Planet Aquarium, Clark Planetarium, The Leonardo, Natural History Museum of Utah, Hogle Zoo, local restaurants and other family-friendly attractions. No prior registration is necessary, and the costume contest line will close at 6:30 p.m. Winners will be announced on stage immediately following intermission.
