WB/DC Comics reveal 10-Film line-up:
Justice League, Wonder Woman, The Flash and more!
In more huge and completely unexpected comic book movie news this week, Warner Bros. has finally announced its DC slate post-Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Suicide Squad movie, directed by David Ayer, is planned for release August 5, 2016 with four A-listers currently in talks to star. On June 23, 2017, Gal Gadot will get her own Wonder Woman movie, and later that year on November 17, we’ll get Zack Snyder’s highly-anticipated Justice League Part 1, for which Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirms will bring “back the cast of Batman v Superman with a cast of other well-known and highly-anticipated superheroes.”
The announcements don’t end there: 2018 will then see the release of The Flash on March 23, followed by Aquaman on July 27. Then, The Rock’s Shazam movie will be released on April 5, 2019, following by Justice League Part 2, which Zack Snyder will return to direct for release on June 14, 2019. And by year 2020, we’ll have a Cyborg movie on April 3rd, and a Green Lantern reboot on June 19th. Solo films for Superman and Batman are obviously in the works, but they don’t have dates.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:
Release Dates for Harry Potter Spinoff Trilogy
Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara made some major announcements this morning at an investors’ meeting. Among those announcements was a confirmation that the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would be a trilogy. For those who don’t know, Fantastic Beasts is set in New York City, seventy years before the events of Harry Potter, and follows Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which became one of Harry’s schoolbooks. The first movie is due out on November 18, 2016. The next two movies will follow on November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020, respectively.
New trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1!
Lionsgate has released a new The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 trailer. The sequel finds Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 as the figurehead of the rebellion against the Capitol. The clip takes Katniss back to the destroyed District 12 in order to “make it personal for her,” says Plutarch (Philip Seymour) in voiceover. “Let her see what the Capitol did to District 12.” We get to see a sequence of great Lawrence reaction shots scored by Lorde’s Mockingjay single ‘Yellow Flicker Beat.’ Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, and Jena Malone also star in the sequel directed by Francis Lawrence. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 opens November 21.
