Salt Lake Comic Con Nerd News: Doctor Strange, Loki vs. King Kong, First look at Powers!

Salt Lake Comic Con is bringing you the best stories from throughout Geekdom! Today we got news that the Doctor Strange film is set for a July 8, 2016 release, Tom Hiddleston will be facing down King Kong in Skull Island and the first image from the Powers TV series have arrived!




Doctor Strange is coming on July 8, 2016!

Things are finally starting to move along for Marvel’s Doctor Strange film. We already knew the movie would be directed by Scott Derrickson with a script by Jon Spaihts. As far as who’ll be playing the Sorcerer Supreme goes, Joaquin Phoenix is said to be in final talks for the role but nothing has been confirmed yet. Well, maybe now that announcement is imminent as the studio has reportedly slotted Doctor Strange into the July 8, 2016 release date they’d previously freed up for one of their movies.

Tom Hiddleston cast in King Kong tale Skull Island

Legendary announced its plans to make a feature film based on the cinematic origins of King Kong, written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla) has now officially announced a director in The Kings of Summer‘s Jordan Vogt-Roberts and a star in Tom Hiddleston (Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor)!

USA Today have debuted our first look at the small screen adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis’ comic series. Meet Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Christian Walker and Susan Heyward (The Following) as Deena Pilgrim. It will première on the Sony PlayStation Network, and also stars Michelle Forbes, Eddie Izzard, and Noah Taylor.
