Salt Lake Comic Con Nerd News: The Deadpool movie, Millennium Falcon stowaway, Supergirl TV series!

Salt Lake Comic Con is bringing you the best stories from throughout Geekdom! Today we got news that the Deadpool feature film is finally going to happen, a secret Batman item is on-board the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars Episode VII and Superman’s cousin, Supergirl, is getting her own TV series!




Deadpool film with Ryan Reynolds coming on February 12, 2016!

Yesterday 20th Century Fox announced that Deadpool would finally be happening. That’s right, the Ryan Reynolds spinoff vehicle that has been on and off for years is going ahead with director Tim Miller at the helm (fun fact – he did the awesome credits sequence for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). Maybe the response to that test footage “leak” was what was needed to push the needle along a bit.

The Dark Knight‘s Tumbler is hiding on the Millennium Falcon

Directors J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder have been going back-and-forth online by parodying their respective blockbusters, Star Wars: Episode VII and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Snyder struck the most recent blow by showing a Stormtrooper getting arrested for hi-jacking Batman’s ride. Abrams has retorted in a way that will be tough to top. He’s stolen the Batmobile back and placed it on the underside of the Millennium Falcon.

CBS orders Supergirl television series


The Supergirl TV show is officially a “go”. We heard a couple of weeks ago that Arrow and The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti was developing a possible TV series based on the DC comics heroine, and now Deadline reports that CBS has given a big series commitment to Supergirl.
